Angela Tabor born and brought up in North Devon. From an early age drawing was a passion and Angela was inspired by the landscape of her home. She studied O level Art at the Marist Convent School, Barnstaple and A level Art at the North Devon College. In 1973 Angela started her first full time job in Barnstaple library where she found many fascinating art books to fuel her enthusiasm. She took private oil painting lessons and was also spurred on by the success of her Aunt who, at the time was becoming a successful artist.
In 1985 Angela married Anthony and moved to Sussex, by 1990 they had three sons and Angela had no time for painting. Once the children started school Angela was able to rekindle her love of art. At first she concentrated on pastels, producing many modern still life paintings which sold well in Brighton. She studied life drawing for a year at evening college, working mainly in pastels and pen. Soon Angela felt the need to try watercolours, she attended a one day introduction, which gave her a little basic knowledge to get started. After that she spent hours playing and experimenting. The excitement was great, just seeing the colours bursting onto the paper as pigments are dropped onto pools of water. She was hooked.
In 1994 Angela started a painting group, providing tuition, encouragement and a relaxing environment in which members of the group can paint. The Lower Beeding Painting Group has gone from strength to strength, now meeting 4 times a week. She also runs full day workshops at her studio and at a studio in Devon. She has exhibited twice at Nymans Gardens, Handcross , three times at Denby’s Vineyard, Dorking, Wakehurst Place, Ardingly and at the beginning of September at the Hawth, Crawley, West Sussex.
